Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Burlington, Vermont
Contract Length: 32 weeks

Job Description

• Start ASAP
• Assignment duration: 32 weeks
• Rotating shifts between day and evening
• Typical schedule: three-day shifts plus one off shift
• Off shift options: 0845-1915, 1045-2115, or 1245-2315
• Call requirements: one weekday call per week plus one 24-hour call every four weeks
• Must be flexible to meet unit and patient care needs
• Required to work 2 out of 4 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year's Day)

Required Qualifications

• Discipline: Registered Nurse (Operating Room)
• Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience
• Experience in a large trauma Level 1 hospital (500+ beds) required
• EPIC experience within the past 2 years (non-negotiable)
• Must have both circulate and scrub skills
• Able to scrub all specialties except cardiovascular OR cases
• Able to scrub general OR, GU, GYN, ENT, eyes, plastics, laparoscopy, trauma, thoracic, and vascular cases
• Prior travel experience required

Certifications & Licenses

• Current RN license for Vermont
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA approved)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA approved)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required
• Tech Certification verification within 30 days of assignment start
• NURSYS verification within 30 days of start and updated annually
• Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Education verification as required
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
• Color blind testing
• Skills checklist within 12 months
• Work history verification for last 2 years
• References: 2 professional references from assignments within last 3 years

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• N95 Fit Test (annual) with approved mask types
• Tdap vaccination within 10 years or titer
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual updates as required)
• MMR vaccination or positive titer (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella)
• Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination
• Varicella vaccination or positive titer
• Flu vaccination or exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination or declination required
• Pneumonia vaccination or declination if assigned to NY facility
• Drug testing as required

Additional Information

• No block schedules allowed
• Bi-weekly orientations on Mondays
• Must explain any employment gaps over 90 days
• Complete and detailed work history required (bed count, EMR, facility type, etc.)
• Reliable personal transportation required (public transportation not accessible)
• Vehicles should have all-season or snow tires Nov-April

Facility & Compliance Requirements

• Completion of EPIC and Cornerstone training modules prior to start
• Completion of various facility-specific forms and consents (e.g., Adult and Child Abuse Registry Consent, COVID questionnaire, emergency contact form)
• Adherence to dress code and telephone usage policies
• Timely submission of photo for badge and auto registration forms
• Compliance with COVID testing protocol on Day 1 of work
• Annual competency exams and safety manual acknowledgements

This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with prior travel experience looking for a flexible, fast-paced assignment in a Level 1 trauma center environment.
