Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Burlingame, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Responsible for assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in an acute patient setting.
- Provide direct patient care, patient/family education, and manage transitions of care.
- Deliver holistic and individualized care considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
- Foster collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers through effective communication.
- Work 4 shifts of 10 hours each, with various start times.
- Weekend work is required.
Requirements
- Licensure & Certifications:
- California RN License
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years experience in Orthopedics, Vascular, or Robotic Surgery
- Scrub experience is required
- CNOR certification preferred
- Shift: 4x10-hour shifts, various start times
- Weekend availability required
Background Checks & Compliance
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening.
- Annual updates required for EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and FACIS screening.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to CA law).
- TB screening: Negative test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov-April) or signed declination
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required).
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS and BLS (AHA or ARC only) required.
- Additional certifications may be required depending on position (e.g., PALS, NRP, CCRN, TNCC, EFM, CPI).
- Competency exams as applicable, including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency.
Facility Specific Requirements
- Passport-style photo for badge.
- Review and sign facility-specific documents including job description, standards of business conduct, confidentiality agreement, vendor training, code of conduct, overpayment refund policy, and regulatory orientation prior to start.
- TB questionnaire signed by candidate and healthcare provider within 90 days of start, renewed annually.
- Religious exemption forms available for PAPR use and certain vaccine requirements.
Work History & References
- Full 7 years of work history required on application with no gaps.
- Employment verification for up to 7 years required; gaps over 30 days must be explained.
- 2 professional references required for clinical and acute care candidates.
