Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with Emergency Room (ER) experience for a travel contract position. First-time travelers are accepted.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience

Schedule & Work Details

• Weekend shifts as needed
• Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for 3x12-hour shifts or 40 hours for 8/10-hour shifts
• No on-call requirement
• Floating within scope of practice as needed
• Block scheduling not accommodated
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Pending licenses not accepted

Certifications Required (Must have at time of submission)

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA or American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA or American Red Cross
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – AHA or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) – Must obtain prior to start

Special Requirements

• Experience with Epic electronic health record system at a proficiency level of 3 or 4
• Facility is smoke-free; all travelers must be nicotine-free (verified by negative 10-panel drug screen plus nicotine/cotinine test)
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront and approved prior to assignment start

Licensure

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida required
• Primary source verification of license required within 30 days of start

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 6 months of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (annual updates required)
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (no medical marijuana accepted)
• Seasonal influenza vaccination required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
• COVID-19 vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required

Background Checks & Documentation

• 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated with contract renewals
• Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting)
• Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service
• Employment application and professional references (2 references within 2 years required for travel positions)
• Performance evaluations if previously worked with the client over 1 year

Orientation & Training

• Completion of online onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• Pass/fail testing on EKG and medication/pharmacology during orientation (2 attempts allowed per test)
• HIPAA training and acknowledgment required

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Notes

• Must be nicotine-free; no exceptions
• All time off requests must be included with submission; late requests may not be approved
• Travelers should be prepared to prioritize time-sensitive Epic modules immediately upon assignment confirmation

This position is ideal for ER Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced, smoke-free environment and have proficiency with Epic EHR. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
