Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
Location: Lees Summit, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Unit: Emergency Room (ER)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of RN experience in specialty
- First-Time Travelers: Not accepted
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, every third weekend or 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule (Friday/Saturday/Sunday combination)
- Floating: May be required to float within scope to other Emergency Departments in the metro area and between departments, units, and facilities as needed
- Holiday Shifts & Charge RN Assignments: As needed per unit
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (home must be at least 75 miles from facility)
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Guaranteed Hours: Minimum 3 shifts per 13 weeks
- Facility Type: Community Hospital with 240 staffed beds
- Charting System: EPIC

Work Environment
- General Emergency Department combining adult and pediatric patients
- STEMI and Stroke certified facility
- Regular floating between units and facilities may be required
- No on-call requirement
Summary
This is a travel contract RN position in an Emergency Room setting requiring at least 2 years of RN experience. The role demands strong pediatric, psychiatric, respiratory, neurological, and cardiac emergency skills, along with multiple certifications including BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS. Weekend and holiday shifts are required, and floating within the metro area is expected. Local candidates are not accepted. Compliance with extensive background checks, health screenings, and competency exams is mandatory.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
- Experience in pediatric nursing
- Experience in psychiatric and behavioral health care
- Neurological care experience, including stroke (CVA) management
- Orthopedics experience, including managing and applying splints
- Proficient in emergency psychiatric care including managing acute psychosis, drug overdose, violent behavior, psychiatric holds, and suicidal patients
