Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm), rotating day/night shifts
• Must work at least every other holiday
• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication exam (passing scores required)

Required Experience

• Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
• Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Valid Ohio RN license or compact state license in hand
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross, RQI acceptable)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross, RQI acceptable)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification (AHA, Apex, AACME, or Bluecloud only)

Required Health & Compliance Documents

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions
• Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 small/regular or 1870+), valid within 12 months and updated annually
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations not accepted)
• Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 12 months or chest X-ray if past positive
• Immunizations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titers with boosters if needed)
• Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
• Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
• Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (instant drug screens not accepted)
• Seasonal flu vaccination documentation (required by November 30th; no declinations accepted)
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start

Background & Verification Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months, updated annually (code 4723.09 Nursing)
• Education verification (including CGFNS for international education if applicable)
• NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
• References: 2 references from employment within 1 year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
• Employment application including 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical acute care practice in similar area

Orientation & Facility Specific Requirements

• Completion of Cleveland Clinic online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• SafeMedicate prep materials provided for medication exam during orientation
• Baseline competency exams (medication administration and ECG interpretation) with required passing scores
• Photo for badge (headshot on white background)
• Must complete all onboarding modules and be cleared before starting assignment

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be prepared for variable shifts to meet hospital operational needs
• Physical exam and eye exam do not need to be updated annually if currently on assignment without break
• Candidates with medical or religious exemptions for vaccines or fit mask must submit appropriate documentation for approval
• Fingerprinting must be completed both through agency and facility processes; candidates can start with results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1.5 years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience
• Med/Surg Telemetry experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS certification
