Location: Salem, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Radiation Oncology Therapist
- Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, shifts between 6am and 7pm, 40 hours per week
- No call required
- Start Date: ASAP
Responsibilities
- Simulate and administer radiation treatments as prescribed by Radiation Oncologist and directed by Radiation Physicist and Dosimetrist
- Interpret prescription and treatment plan
- Complete patient identification processes
- Maintain audio and visual surveillance of patients during treatment
- Accurately position patients for treatment
- Image patients as directed
- Annotate portal images appropriately
- Monitor patients for side effects or unusual reactions and report accordingly
- Document treatment positions and tattoos/field borders using digital camera
- Safely transfer patients using proper body mechanics
- Perform simple RadCalc calculations for emergency treatments
- Construct quality immobilization devices for reproducible positioning
- Accurately tattoo patients and practice safe needle handling
- Participate in daily chart rounds to coordinate care
- Complete Aria chart checks and weekly block room cleaning and HEPA filter checks
- Fabricate custom blocks and coordinate simulation with clinic for continuity of care
Required Qualifications
Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Radiation Therapist license in Oregon
- ARRT National Radiology License (Radiation Therapy)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Education
- Completion of a Radiation Therapy program
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year Radiation Therapist experience within the last year
- Experience with Varian TrueBeam or Edge, Aria systems
Additional Requirements & Compliance
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start (7-year search)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and ongoing every 30 days
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Drug testing (10 panel) within 90 days of start
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tdap vaccine or facility-specific declination
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity verification
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella immunity verification
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (year-round)
- Fit mask testing to be completed onsite within first week of start
- Photo for badge required at least 8 days prior to start
- Completion of required facility-specific Healthstream modules by due date
- References: 2 references within last 2 years showing 1 year in comparable specialty, with at least one supervisory reference within last 12 months
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit prior travel experience required
This position is ideal for Radiation Therapists with at least 1 year of experience, licensed in Oregon, and comfortable working with advanced radiation therapy equipment in a high-volume clinical setting.
