Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse with a minimum of 4 years of OR experience, including specialties in Neurology, Transplant, General Surgery, Gynecology, and Orthopedics. The unit serves multiple surgical service lines such as Bariatrics, Urology, ENT, Oral, Plastics, Ophthalmology, and more.

  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 4 years Operating Room experience (including required specialties)
  • Minimum Overall Experience: 3 years (no first-time travelers accepted)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required, but first-time travelers are not accepted
  • Weekend and Call: Variable, to be discussed during interview
  • Floating: May be required within facility scope and to outpatient areas
  • Holiday Time Off: No holiday RTO approved during blackout dates (Nov 23-29, Dec 21-Jan 3)
  • Orientation: Bi-weekly schedule; full compliance required to start on time
  • Maximum RTO: 7 days

Required Qualifications

  • Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse license for Georgia
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required for applicable specialties
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
    • Other certifications (PALS, NRP, EFM, NIH Stroke) may be required depending on specialty area
  • Background Checks: Comprehensive background check required prior to start
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 12 months
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with additional requirements if prior positive)
    • Immunizations: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer or declination), TDAP (highly recommended)
    • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
    • Flu vaccination or declination required during flu season
  • Competency Exams: Medication, Dysrhythmia/EKG, Color Blind Testing, and general competency exams required
  • References: Two clinical references required
  • Skills Checklist: Updated within 12 months
  • Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required

Additional Notes

  • Candidates will undergo a clinical screening to determine fit before final manager approval.
  • Locals are accepted at the same rate.
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length.
  • Candidates must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance.

This position is ideal for experienced Operating Room Registered Nurses with a strong surgical background and the ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-specialty surgical environment.
