Location: Utica, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:30 - 7:00)

Job Description

• Work in a Cardio Thoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU)
• Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
• Must be able to float within your skillset

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, including experience within the last year
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Harassment Prevention Training
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system required

Required Training and Competencies

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required every 3 years for ICU staff)
• Color Blind Testing (one-time, no expiration)
• Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York state requirement, annual)

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start date
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start and updated annually (specific N95 masks required)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (PPD, Quantiferon Gold accepted; Tspot not accepted)
• Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
  • Varicella (chickenpox)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (September 1 - March 31)
• Pneumonia vaccination or declination required
• 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start (instant drug screen acceptable)

Documentation and Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Emergency contact form required prior to start
• Background checks including 7-year search, sex offender registry, and annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification and Florida Education Audit Confirmation (for RN staff)
• Professional references:

  • 2 references for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles (within 3 years)
  • 1 reference for per diem non-acute care roles
• Skills checklist required annually
• Facility-specific documents to be signed: job description, welcome packet, Omnicell form, and others as applicable
• Photo for badge: professional headshot on plain background, no head coverings or informal poses
