Job Opportunity: NICU Transport Registered Nurse

Location: Seattle, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Role: Pediatric/Neonatal Critical Care Transport RN supporting ground transportation in the Seattle area.
  • Responsibilities include transporting infants and pediatric patients from surrounding hospitals, ERs, L&D/NICU to a higher level of care facility.
  • May float to cover bedside nursing in NICU, PICU, or Pediatric units.
  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, night shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM).
  • Weekend work: Every other weekend required.
  • No on-call required.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Must have experience in ground transportation of pediatric/neonatal patients.
  • Charge nurse experience preferred.

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Required Licenses

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Washington State.
  • Compact license holders are honored at this facility.

Schedule & Work Hours

  • Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours per shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM).
  • Total hours per week: 36 hours.

Additional Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • Social Security Card (as applicable for employment verification).
  • Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually.
  • Education verification required (nursing degree).
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work with or without accommodation.
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted).
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
    • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted).
    • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred (declinations not required).
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 12 months of start.
  • Respiratory safety clearance for respirator use, medically cleared annually (for travel candidates).
  • References: Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
  • Employment application covering at least the last 5 years of employment.

Floating Policy

  • May be required to float to other nearby facilities within a reasonable distance.

Notes

  • Candidates currently employed at other facilities within the same health system with less than a 30-day gap may have some background and drug screening requirements waived or extended.
  • Photo for badge is not required for this specific facility.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State.
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience.
  • Experience in ground transportation of pediatric/neonatal patients.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
