Physical Therapist - Inpatient Rehab

Location: Amarillo, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Setting: Inpatient/Acute Care in a 450-bed trauma level 3 hospital
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (40 hours/week)
  • Patient Population: Orthopedics, neurology, oncology, post-op back and neck, basic medical-surgical, ICU (medical, cardiac, surgical)
  • Team: Approximately 8-10 Physical Therapists and 6-8 PT Assistants daily; collaboration with Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Case Management
  • Travel radius: Must be willing to travel at least 50 miles; local candidates not accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapist license in Texas
  • Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapist experience within the last year

Certifications (as applicable)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Chemotherapy certification
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)
  • NIH Stroke Certification

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID
  • E-Verify compliance (for direct hires)
  • Background checks including 7-year history, sex offender, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Education verification (highest level)
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented chickenpox history)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; additional onsite drug screen during orientation (only one attempt allowed)
  • Clear headshot photo for badge
  • Unit-specific skills checklist annually
  • 7-year work history verification

Additional Notes

  • Orientation and training requirements must be completed prior to or at start
  • Fingerprinting required only for New Mexico placements (not applicable here)
  • Candidates must complete a full application/resume
  • References are not required for clearance but may be requested internally
