Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Schedule: Four 10-hour day shifts per week (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
  • Call Requirements:
    • 1 late call per week (5:30 PM - 7:30 PM)
    • 1 overnight call shift per week (5:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
    • 1-2 call weekends per 6-week schedule (Friday 5:30 PM - Monday 7:00 AM)
  • Preferred Experience: Philips Single and Bi-Plane Angiography systems
  • Required Systems: Epic EHR, McKesson
  • Local travelers within 75 miles are not accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Kentucky
  • Minimum of 1 year of Cath Lab Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Current certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Required Background and Compliance Checks

  • Background check within 1 year, updated annually, including:
    • County criminal background for all locations lived/worked in last 7 years
    • National criminal and sex offender searches
    • Education verification or signed official transcript/diploma
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • HHS/OIG exclusion check within 30 days of start, updated annually

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, or PA, confirming good health and ability to perform job duties
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (acceptable masks include Halyard Regular/Small, 3M N95 models)
  • Immunizations and titers (with religious/medical exemptions accepted and updated annually):
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines; booster if equivocal/negative)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster if equivocal/negative)
  • Negative TB test (PPD or TSPOT/QuantiFERON) within 1 year, renewed annually; chest x-ray required if history of positive TB
  • Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
  • COVID-19 initial vaccine series or approved exemption required; booster preferred but not required
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, updated annually; must include specified drug panels (rapid screens not accepted)

Competency and Skills Requirements

  • Must complete and maintain current competency exams and skills checklists annually, including:
    • Unit-specific competency exams via Relias (80% passing score or higher)
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (passing score 80% or higher)
    • Color blindness test via Relias
    • RN Math Ability competency exam (if applicable)
    • Conscious Sedation competency exam (if applicable)
  • Pass facility’s advanced dysrhythmia (EKG) exam with remediation if needed; only two attempts allowed before cancellation
  • Annual EKG competency certification completed onsite

Documentation and History Requirements

  • Two supervisor references verified within 6 months of start (must confirm direct supervision)
  • Employment verification covering 7 years, completed at least 8 business days prior to start
  • Employment application must explain any gaps longer than 30 days
  • Signed facility policies prior to start, including:
    • Acceptable Use Policy
    • Confidentiality Agreement
    • Electronic Communications Policy
    • Password Policy

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must renew all expiring documents prior to clearance if they expire during the assignment
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
