RN (Registered Nurse) — Women’s Care Unit

Contract

• 13 weeks
• 12-hour nights
• 36 hours per week

Unit Details

• MedSurg Women’s Care Unit
• 18 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6
• Common patient types: hysterectomy, mastectomy, postpartum patients (mom’s only), general medical/surgical patients

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois Nursing License
• ACLS (AHA)
• BLS (AHA)
• 2 years of experience in MedSurg
• Experience with NG placement, foley placement, blood admin, heparin drips, and insulin drips

Responsibilities / Clinical Expectations

• RNs are required to titrate drips
• Common titratable/set-rate drips: heparin, insulin
• No tele/monitor techs on the unit; RNs do not read strips
• May float to other general medical units

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Travelers fill the shifts with the greatest need
• 4 weekend shifts per schedule period
• Holiday rotation required

Orientation

• 1 shift of unit/department-specific orientation
• 12 non-billable orientation hours

Additional Notes

• Scrubs of any color
• Drug screen required
• Local rate applies within 50 miles
• Call-off policy: equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty or need to pay for the shift
