Job Opportunity: CST/ORT Travel Position

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Specialty: Certified Surgical Technician (CST) / Operating Room Technician (ORT)
• Employment Type: Travel assignment
• Must have Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience
• Required to have completed at least 2 prior travel assignments (prior travel experience required)
• Certification is mandatory (CST Certification required)
• BLS certification required

Unit Details

• Unit: CV PreOp, Heart Tower (E Building)
• Number of Beds: 4
• Patient Ratios: 1:1
• Staffing: RNs, CNC support, secretary, manager shared with CVOR
• Equipment: GE Carescape Monitoring, Fuji ultrasound
• Documentation System: Cerner
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
• On-Call: Stay late 1-2 times per week
• Floating: Within scope of practice and experience

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in CST/ORT specialty (highest requirement)
• Prior travel experience required: must have completed at least 2 travel assignments
• Critical care experience is a must; PreOp experience is a plus
• Strong critical thinking skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Excellent communication skills with interdepartmental teams
• Proficient in BCMA and excellent documentation

Procedures and Responsibilities

• Large-bore IV starts
• Chin to toe hair removal
• Medication administration
• Skin assessment
• Assist with arterial line, central line, and epidural placement
• Transport patients to OR
• Assist with induction/intubation, positioning, and skin prep

Certifications Required

• Certified Surgical Technician (CST)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
