Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Contract Length

• Approximately 26 weeks

Work Schedule

• Shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
• Weekend hours: 36 (work every other weekend)
• Call requirement: Yes, approximately one call shift per month; 2 hours coverage for the oncoming shift
• Scheduling is based on department operational needs; approved time off documented in the contract only is guaranteed

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Maine
• Minimum 3 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Experience working with Pediatric patients
• Experience working with Adult patients
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients

Experience & Skills

• Experience in tertiary, teaching hospital settings and level 1 trauma centers required
• Must be flexible and a team player with strong communication skills
• Float experience required in:

  • NICU/PICU
  • Acute care pediatrics and emergency department
  • Adult acute and critical care
• Preferred experience in NICU/PICU and cardiothoracic care

Unit & Patient Information

• Covers entire facility with a team of 14-16 RRTs
• Patient ratios:

  • Acute care: 1:25
  • Critical care: 1:8
• Equipment used includes:

  • Drager V500 and VN500 ventilators
  • Hamilton T1 and C1 ventilators
  • Respironics V30, V60, Trilogy line
  • Airvo and Vapotherm devices
• Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC

Dress Code

• Scrubs provided or flexible regarding scrub color
• No unacceptable attire specified
