Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Operating Room

Work Schedule

• Shift: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM
• Hours per week: 36

Job Summary

• Assist the surgical team before, during, and after surgery under direct supervision.
• Provide expert support, assistance, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Coordinate equipment setup and ensure sterility, cleanliness, and functionality.
• Assist with patient positioning and preparation.
• Scrub in as primary or secondary staff during procedures.
• Hand instruments and supplies to the surgeon and assist as directed.
• Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after surgery.
• Apply dressings post-surgery.
• Participate in patient safety and quality care initiatives.
• Clean and sterilize operating room and equipment; assist with room turnover.
• Assemble case carts with necessary supplies and instruments.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Surgical Technician license in Colorado
• Minimum 2 years of Surgical Technician experience, including experience within the last year
• High school diploma or its equivalent
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Physical Demands

• Heavy physical strength required: occasionally exert up to 100 lbs, frequently up to 50 lbs, and constantly up to 20 lbs.
• Requires full range of motion including kneeling, crouching, reaching, and feeling.
• Must have good auditory and visual abilities, including color vision and near/far focus.
• Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, infectious waste, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and potentially aggressive patients.
• Exposure to environmental factors such as heat, cold, precipitation, and wind.
• Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.

Work Environment

• Moderate to occasionally loud noise levels.
• Interaction with patients experiencing a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions and infectious diseases.
• Exposure to foul odors and infectious materials.
