Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery
Location
- Lewiston, Maine
Assignment Details
- Travel position
- Contract length: 8 weeks
- Start: ASAP strongly preferred
- Shift: Rotating 12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM), self-scheduling
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
- Call requirements: Yes
- Unit: Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP)
- Patient ratio: 1:6 (unit census 3–24 patients)
- Number of beds on unit: 24
- Patient population: Neonates and adults
Unit & Equipment
- Trauma Level III facility
- Equipment used: Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM), IV pumps
- Electronic Health Records: Cerner, Powerchart, Omnicell Medication System
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maine
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience in Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP)
- Postpartum experience
- Completion of at least one travel assignment
- Required certifications:
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Experience & Skills
- Must have at least 2 years of specialty experience in Labor & Delivery
- Experience managing a 3-couplet assignment
- Skilled in triage of obstetrical patients
- Proficient in use of External Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- Ability to start and maintain peripheral IVs
- Administer antihypertensives and insulin drips
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and recover C-sections
- Perform newborn assessments including APGAR scoring, cord blood collection, ID/security banding, and thermoregulation with radiant warmers
- Experience with epidural anesthesia pain assessment and management
- Postpartum care for mother and baby, including Level 1 Nursery and circulating for C-sections preferred
