Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Aurora, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Operating Room in a Level 1 Trauma Center. This role involves 12-hour shifts with start times primarily at 10:45 AM, with occasional floats to earlier shifts (8:45 AM and 6:45 AM). Weekend work is required as needed. The nurse will float within the scope to other Operating Rooms as necessary.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Colorado
  • Minimum 3 years of Operating Room experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma patients
  • At least 2 years of robotic surgery scrub experience
  • One completed travel assignment
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Experience with general, GU/GYN, neuro, ENT, and plastic surgery cases
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Schedule & Work Details

  • 12-hour shifts, primarily starting at 10:45 AM
  • Occasional float to 8:45 AM and 6:45 AM shifts
  • Weekend shifts as needed per unit requirements
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating between like units within the Operating Room department

Important Notes

  • Maximum of 10 return-to-office (RTO) days allowed
  • RTO not allowed during specific holiday periods (late December, mid-March, early and late May)
  • Flexibility may be considered for harder-to-fill positions

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
  • Verification of licensure and certifications within 60 days of start
  • Physical exam and health documents updated annually
  • Immunizations and titers required: TDAP, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start and updated annually
  • Fit mask test within 12 months and updated annually
  • Color blind exam (Ishihara) required prior to start
  • Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests
  • References: 2 professional references from the last 2 years, including one from the last year

Certifications That May Be Required (Confirm as Applicable)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) depending on unit
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) for pediatric units
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) for emergency roles
  • Other specialty certifications as applicable

Additional Requirements

  • Employment history verification for the last 3 years
  • Skills checklist and competency exams updated annually
  • Compliance with state-specific CAPS check requirements
