Medical Lab Technician - Travel/Contract
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Laboratory
- Shift: Day shift, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day
- Rotating weekends required
- No local candidates accepted
- Prior travel experience required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Medical Lab Technician license in Louisiana
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical Lab Technician experience
- Medical Lab Technician experience within the last year
- Prior travel experience required
Certifications & Competencies
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA provider, instructor, or RQI acceptable
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on assignment
- Other certifications as required by specialty and facility policies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as required by profession
- Competency exams as required by specialty
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check (updated if no assignment within last 90 days)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG screenings required
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Annual respirator fit testing (Fit Mask)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with annual renewal
- TB questionnaire required annually
- 12-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start
- Influenza vaccination documentation or approved medical/religious exemption form
- COVID-19 vaccination documentation or approved medical/religious exemption form
- Facility-specific confidentiality agreement and system access forms to be signed prior to start
Additional Notes
- Healthstream training courses assigned on first day of orientation; glucose testing requires completion and return demonstration
- Some certifications and requirements may vary by cost center or specific unit assignment
- Exemptions for vaccinations considered only for medical or religious reasons with proper documentation
This position is ideal for experienced Medical Lab Technicians with prior travel assignments seeking a 13-week contract in Baton Rouge with day shifts and rotating weekends.
