Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Orange, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery RN to work in a large acute care hospital setting. This is a travel contract position with a start date ASAP. The shift is 3x12 hour day shifts (07:00-19:30).


Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience (hard stop, no exceptions)
  • Experience in large hospital settings is highly preferred
  • No first-time travelers; prior travel experience is required

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN Intermediate required; AWHONN Advanced preferred
  • Must be able to circulate in the OR

Schedule and Work Conditions

  • Weekend shifts may exceed every other weekend to accommodate unit needs
  • Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered
  • Travel pairs will not be considered
  • Guaranteed hours with the facility having the ability to call off once per pay period (2 weeks)

Required Licenses

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for California (pending licenses not accepted)

Prior Travel Experience

  • Prior travel experience is required; no first-time travelers will be considered

Required Documentation and Compliance

  • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
  • Drug screening (10 panel) within 90 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
    • COVID vaccine or declination
  • Respirator fit testing (annual)
  • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years

Training and Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or completion of Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam in Relias
  • Completion of required WorkRamp modules including:
    • Annual regulatory requirements
    • Specialty-specific modules for Labor and Delivery
    • Regional core and specialty-specific modules as applicable
  • Epic training modules completion required prior to moving to Per Diem Work Ready status

Additional Notes

  • Float policy acknowledgment required; may be required to float to other Providence facilities within a reasonable distance
  • Local radius for assignment is 50 miles
  • Pending licenses are not accepted
  • No travel pairs or first-time travelers allowed
