Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Salem, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Day shift (07:00-17:30) and Night shift (19:00-07:30)
  • Schedule:
    • 3 x 12-hour weekday scheduled shifts (day or night)
    • Weekday night call shifts – 8 hours (23:00-07:00)
    • Weekend scheduled and call shifts – 12 hours
    • Up to 6 shifts of call and/or weekend scheduled shifts per 6-week schedule

Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse – Operating Room
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (no first-time travelers)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Required (no first-time travelers allowed)
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
  • Skills: Telemetry skills required for all RNs regardless of unit

Compliance & Documentation

  • Licensure: Valid RN license required; NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
  • Background Checks:
    • Criminal background check within 90 days of start (7-year search)
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and ongoing
    • International background check if applicable
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start (can start with physical pending)
    • Fit mask testing required onsite within first week of start
    • Immunizations and titers required:
      • Tdap vaccine or facility-specific declination
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
      • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) antibody titers or vaccinations
      • Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series (may start with booster series in process)
      • Varicella antibody titer or vaccinations
      • Seasonal flu vaccine or signed declination (year-round requirement)
    • Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Competency Exams:
    • Competency exam with 80% passing score
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam with 85% passing score (required for ICU, ER, Cath Lab, Oncology, and preferred for PACU, Med Surg/Tele)

Additional Information

  • Badge photo required at least 8 days prior to start (white background)
  • Completion of required HealthStream modules by due date
  • References: Two references within last 2 years showing 1 year in comparable specialty; at least one supervisory reference within last 12 months

This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with prior travel experience looking for a 13-week travel contract in Oregon with a mix of day, night, and call shifts.
