Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Details

Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele)
Shift: 4x12 hour night shifts
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Patient Ratio: 1:5 to 1:7 for MedSurg patients
Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty (Registered Nurse)
First Time Traveler: Accepted
Local Radius Requirement: Must live within 75 miles of the facility
Charting System: Must have EPIC experience

Required Certifications

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
NIH Stroke Certification (to be updated annually)

Required Licenses

Must have a valid New York State RN license in hand (no exceptions)

Clinical Skills & Responsibilities

Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency Response:
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Use of Rapid Response and Code teams
IV Therapy/Phlebotomy: Peripheral line care and management
Respiratory Care:
- Nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks
- Non-invasive airway management
Professional Skills: Isolation precautions

Unit Description

Acute Stroke Unit (39 beds) specializing in acute stroke and neurological disorders
Provides evidence-based care focusing on stroke prevention and acute care phases
Tertiary care hospital with 528 staffed beds

Required Background & Compliance Checks

Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, education verification
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, run monthly
Foreign education equivalency evaluation if applicable
Education verification from primary source (no hard copy degrees accepted)

Health & Safety Requirements

Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire annually
Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
Drug screening within 30 days of start
Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
Snellen eye exam within 1 year (not required annually)
COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Additional Requirements

Medication/pharmacology competency exam as required
Color blindness testing (one-time)
Competency exams as required by specialty
Orientation safety manual acknowledgement
Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
Passport-style photo for badge
Employment application and work history verification (minimum 2 past employments)
References (2 within 3 years) required for agency candidates
