ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (days and nights possible depending on department needs; schedule reviewed every 4 weeks but not guaranteed)
Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
Common Patient Diagnoses:
- Oncologic emergencies
- COPD
- Pneumonia
- Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS)
- Gastrointestinal bleed
- Neuromuscular disease
- Drug overdose
- Consequences of oncologic treatment
- Pulmonary hypertension
- Autoimmune disorders
- Sepsis
Special Procedures/Unit Details:
- Mechanical ventilation
- Pulmonary artery catheter placement
- Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)
- Arterial pressure monitoring
- Cardiac monitoring
- Chest tubes
- Central venous catheters
- Chemotherapy administration
- Complex medication regimens
- Clinical trials participation
- Plasmapheresis
- Bronchoscopy and endoscopy for pulmonary and gastrointestinal conditions
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) experience, with at least 1 year of recent MICU experience
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience managing mechanical ventilation
- Proficiency with Epic electronic medical record system

Units are nice, staff are kind. Single patient rooms with 4:1 ratios day and night on med surg.
Cons
Scheduled every weekend, floated for the first 6 weeks of contract every shift. Not traveler friendly even though they say they are. Staff are treated well not travelers.
