Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer Travel Job - Connecticut, New Haven


Job Details

  • Employment Type: Travel / Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hours (6:45 AM - 5:15 PM)
  • Hours per Week: 40 hours (including weekend shifts)
  • Start Dates: Any Monday from June 29 through July 20 (latest)
  • Schedule: Rotating days including some Saturdays; start times may vary by location, with 6:45 AM preferred
  • Floating: No floating between sister facilities; no floating within scope to meet facility needs
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes
  • On-call: No
  • Guaranteed Hours: Yes
  • Remote Time Off (RTO): No RTO approved; RTO greater than 7 days requires approval

Location Coverage

Clinician will float between multiple locations within approximately 5 to 30 miles radius of New Haven, CT, including:

  • Main Campus in New Haven
  • Facilities in Guilford, North Haven, Orange, Old Saybrook, Branford

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer, with experience within the last year
  • Must hold active ARDMS, RCS, or RDCS credentials prior to start date

Certifications (Must be current and valid)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (check unit description)

Competencies and Testing

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required within 12 months prior to start; must score 85% to pass
  • Color Blind Testing required for all candidates on or after 8/2/2024; must score 80% or higher
  • Other competency exams may apply depending on specialty and unit

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit Mask Test within 12 months of start; must be updated annually; clean-shaven required for fit testing
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation required (specific acceptable tests detailed)
  • Annual TB Questionnaire required
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (or declination within 1 year)
    • Varicella
  • Tdap vaccination highly preferred for pediatric specialties, labor and delivery, postpartum (declination acceptable)
  • 10 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31); declinations not allowed
  • COVID vaccination series preferred but not required

  • Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Total Staffed Beds: Over 900
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Scrub Color: Caribbean blue top, black pants
  • Parking Cost: $125/month

    • Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training

    • Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
    • Pyxis ES MedStation Modules
    • Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
    • Patient Bedside Rounding
    • Ventricular Assist Device Awareness
    • AME Blood Administration Module (annual update required)
    • New Employee Orientation Module
    • 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for Ultrasound Tech)
    • ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
    • eCart Training Module (for RNs)
    • Chaperone Policy Training
    • Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026)
  • EPIC Testing: Optional but highly encouraged for those with prior EPIC experience; required for ER RNs at certain campuses

  • Candidate must provide photo ID matching legal name on first day
  • All required documentation must be uploaded and verified prior to start
  • No prior travel experience required for this position
