Job Opportunity: Home Health Registered Nurse

Location: Eureka, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Home Health Nursing
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
  • Guaranteed 40 hours per week
  • Average patient load: 5-7 patients per day (geriatric cases)
  • Minimum 30 points weekly required
  • Territory: Up to 60-mile radius from the office/hub
  • Dress code: Scrubs of any color (no jeans)
  • Charting must be completed by 9 AM the following morning
  • Timely communication is required
  • Cell phone use is not allowed; iPad provided for work
  • Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate
  • Flexibility with territory expected
  • Locals accepted at travel rate
  • On-call required (details to be discussed during interview)
  • First-time travel nurses are not accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
  • Minimum 1 year of Home Health nursing experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • OASIS experience

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks within 90 days of start, including:
    • SSN Trace
    • County searches for last 7 years of residence/work/school
    • FACIS Level 1
    • Nationwide Sex Offender Registry
    • Motor Vehicle Records/Driver’s Record
    • Education verification (highest degree related to profession)
    • Work history verification (7 years, with attempts if unverifiable)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 90 days of start
  • Fingerprinting requirements vary by state (not applicable for California)
  • State-specific criminal history and employability status checks as applicable
  • Signed Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (updated annually)
  • Primary source verification of RN license within 90 days of start and upon expiration
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Personal auto insurance proof required (due to driving responsibilities)
  • Facility-specific Acceptable Use Policy must be completed prior to start
  • Flu and COVID vaccination or facility-specific declination documentation required
  • Physical exam within last 12 months (not required annually)
  • Fit test for N95 mask required
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire if positive)
  • Immunization or titer proof for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (instant acceptable)
  • Two professional references within 2 years of start (travel or acute care preferred)
  • Full 7 years of work history documented with no gaps
