Medical Surgical Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 18:45 - 7:15)
Unit: 23-bed Med Surg unit
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Work every other weekend
• No on-call requirement
• Floating within scope as needed
• Block schedule accommodation possible (discuss with manager)
• Locals accepted with no radius restrictions
• Must have an active Illinois RN license or be in the application process with ETA
• RTO (Return to Office) restrictions ideally no more than 5 days
• PICC line management and IV start experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with Cerner electronic charting preferred
• Scrub color: any solid color
• Parking permit required (no cost)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year Med Surg RN experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• PICC line management experience

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Valid/current US Driver’s License or US ID
• Background checks within 30 days of start, including:

  • SSN Trace, National Criminal, Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Illinois Department of Corrections Inmate Search
  • Illinois State Police Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registry
  • Illinois Most Wanted Search
• Fingerprints required in Illinois 3 business days prior to start (for clinical candidates without IL license)
• Education verification (initial degree) required
• NURSYS verification required
• Competency exam required for clinical candidates
• Badge photo (color, plain background) due within one week of signing contract
• Code of Conduct acknowledgment within 7 days of contract signing
• Parking permit form to be completed within 7 days of contract signing (if applicable)
• Completion of computer-based learning modules by first day of orientation
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by appropriate provider, confirming good health and ability to perform job functions
• Fit mask test required prior to start (3M1860 small/regular, 1870, or 1870+ masks accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
• TB questionnaire updated annually
• Immunization or documented immunity required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (negative dilute requires retest)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30
• Two professional references required

Additional Notes

• Guaranteed hours subject to client call-offs up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay
• Candidates may be called off or placed on-call in lieu of call-offs, which counts as a called-off shift
• Facility accommodates latex allergies
