Job Opportunity: Surgical Technologist

Location: Atlantic, Iowa
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM, Monday to Friday, with rotating on-call duties requiring a 30-minute response time
Hours per Week: 40

Job Description

As a Surgical Technologist, you will support safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care by:

• Assisting the RN and surgical team with limited direct patient care
• Handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures
• Maintaining a strong understanding of surgical procedures and anticipating surgeon needs
• Setting up, maintaining, and protecting a sterile field throughout procedures
• Cleaning, preparing, and packaging instruments for disinfection and sterilization
• Assisting with room turnover between cases, including cleaning and preparing the environment
• Upholding patient safety standards and maintaining clinical competencies based on scope and training
• Adhering to AORN Recommended Practices and departmental policies
• Managing time, resources, and supplies responsibly
• Collaborating as a supportive team member
• Performing other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist, with experience within the last year
• Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
• Current BLS/BCLS certification

• Prior travel experience is not specified or required for this position.
• This role requires the ability to respond to on-call duties within 30 minutes.
