Location

Contract
- 13 weeks
- 12-hour shifts
- Nights
- 36 hours per week
Unit Details
- CVICU
- 20 beds, all private and all monitored
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1 depending on acuity
Required Qualifications
- Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS
- At least 2 solid years of CVICU experience
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
- Must be able to interpret strips
- Must be able to titrate drips
- Must be able to work with the unit’s equipment and patient population without training
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS
- CCRN
- Continuing travel experience
- Experience with immediate post-op patients
- Experience with VAD
- Experience with transplant patients
Clinical Experience / Patient Population
- Post open heart surgical patients, including CABG, valves, CABG/Valve, dissections, AAA, vascular procedures, carotids, post cardiovascular procedures, STEMI, unstable angina, unstable N-STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, targeted temperature management, transcutaneous pacing, transvenous pacing, severe heart failure, TAVRs, cardiac-related events requiring ICU care, ventilated patients, overflow patients from other ICUs including COVID patients
- Soon to include post VAD placement and post heart transplant patients
Equipment / Monitoring
- IABPs
- Impellas
- Swan Ganz
- ECMO
- External pacemakers
- CRRT
- PICC, midlines, CVC, Swans, and arterial lines
- Philips monitoring
- Ventilators, CPAP, BPAP, heated high flow, and nitric oxide
Scheduling
- Every other weekend
- Every other holiday
- No call or standby
- Not self-scheduling
- No blocking
Floating
- Float to every level of care
- Travelers are expected to take a full team
Additional Notes
- Negative drug screen required
- 12 hours of non-billable orientation
- Guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation
- PCT support is available
- Charge nurses and a house supervisor are on site 24/7
- Respiratory therapists are on site 24/7
