Registered Nurse – Emergency Center

Location: Albany, Georgia
Contract Length: 17 weeks
Shift: Evenings
Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 48 hours per week


Job Overview

Seeking experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses with larger hospital experience for a 17-week travel assignment. The unit handles approximately 180-200 patient visits per day, including pediatric to geriatric patients, trauma cases, neuro cases (some shipped out), orthopedic cases (some kept, some shipped out), and serves as a stroke (CVA) center. No burn cases are treated onsite.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Georgia
  • Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • Current certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – mandatory
    • ASLS (Advanced Stroke Life Support) or NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience with MEDITECH EMR

Work Environment & Support

  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
  • Charge nurse present
  • Nurse aides/paramedics available (5-6 per shift)
  • Security and patient sitters available for safety
  • Respiratory therapists available 24/7 managing ventilated patients held in ER
  • Pharmacy services available 11 hours daily in department and 24/7 on campus
  • Central monitoring techs for telemetry/monitoring
  • Nurses responsible for lab draws and IV starts
  • Floor-specific orientation: 2 shifts

Scheduling & Other Details

  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend
  • Holiday requirement: every other holiday
  • Scrub color: Caribbean Blue only
  • Auto lunch deductions apply (noted for 3p-3a shift)
  • Callout process and completion of orientation requirements (ORT) during week one are emphasized and must be adhered to

Patient Care Setting

  • 6-bed behavioral lockdown area staffed by psychiatric personnel
  • Trauma cases accepted, with some neuro trauma and orthopedic cases transferred out
  • Stroke center with NIHSS certification required
  • Pediatric to geriatric patient population

This position is ideal for an experienced ER nurse with strong trauma and stroke care skills, Meditech EMR proficiency, and prior travel nursing experience looking for a structured, well-supported travel assignment in a busy emergency department.
