Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with Telemetry specialty for night shifts on a cardiac telemetry unit. This is a fast-paced, high-acuity environment caring for patients with cardiac, respiratory, renal, and other complex medical conditions.

Shift Details

• Shift: Nights (19:00 - 07:30)
• Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 hours (must be specified on submission)
• Weekend Hours: Every other weekend as required
• Call: None
• Orientation: Night shift orientation occurs during day shift; availability for full orientation week required

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Cardiac Telemetry
• Number of Beds: 32
• Patient Ratios (Nights): Approximately 1:6 to 1:8
• Patient Types: CHF, chest pain, arrhythmias (AFib, flutter, SVT), respiratory, renal, hemodialysis, sepsis, urology, surgical, withdrawal protocols, isolation, GI bleeds
• Equipment: Lift equipment, bladder scanner, interpreter iPad, BiPAP monitoring
• EMR System: EPIC

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience in an inpatient setting within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Tikosyn and Sotalol initiation
• Familiarity with dopamine, dobutamine, lidocaine, nitro, milrinone drips
• Experience managing chest tubes, other drains, and CIWA (withdrawal) protocols

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
• Work within the scope of nursing practice and applicable state regulations
• Assist with patient mobility including lifting and turning with assistance
• Adhere to facility policies and professional standards

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Stand and walk most of the shift
• Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients (up to 50 lbs push/pull/grip, 15 lbs pinch)
• Ability to work varying schedules and shifts as needed
• Exposure to blood and body fluids

Dress Code

• Scrubs: Black tops and pants
• Undershirts/long sleeves allowed in black, white, yellow, green, red, or blue
• Medical/scrub jackets permitted
• No other attire allowed

Additional Notes

• Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for travel nurses from November 1 to April 1 (no declinations accepted)
• Float to similar or lower acuity units as needed
• Compassionate, empathetic, team-oriented attitude with strong attention to detail is essential
