Cardio Vascular Technologist

Location: Erie, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Long Term
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Day shift (Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM)
Hours: 40 hours per week, with on-call coverage for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays


Job Description

  • Perform invasive cardiac imaging procedures independently, demonstrating technical skill and judgment.
  • Properly position patients and apply radiographic techniques for diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Ensure patient and staff radiation safety, including use of lead shielding and monitoring devices.
  • Support aseptic technique and patient safety protocols, including time-out procedures.
  • Function competently in the first assist role during procedures.
  • Administer contrast agents under physician direction.
  • Provide scheduled standby call coverage.
  • Maintain point-of-care testing standards and perform daily quality control on procedural devices.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients to explain procedures and reduce anxiety.
  • Identify patients using two identifiers and follow universal protocols.
  • Review patient history and physician orders, applying departmental protocols for optimal data acquisition.
  • Ensure proper coding, tracking, and documentation of images and charges in electronic records.
  • Maintain continuing education and competency requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Radiology Technologist, with experience within the last year
  • Experience as a Cardiovascular Technologist and Cath Lab Technologist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Certification in one of the following:
    • ARRT Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiology
    • ARRT
    • Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist
    • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
    • Echocardiograph and Ultrasound certification
  • Experience with Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in Cardiac Catheterization Lab (Cath Lab)
  • Experience with Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)

Additional Information

  • Scrubs are provided via an on-site scrub machine.
  • Parking is available but may be challenging; multiple lots and street parking options exist.
