Job Description

• Schedule: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts
• Setting: Acute care in a 50-bed, level 3 trauma hospital
• Patient Load: 10-12 patients daily
• No call or float responsibilities
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required
• Dress Code: Scrubs (any color except camo)
• Certifications Required: PTA license
• Certifications Preferred: BLS

Clinical Environment

• Hospital census approximately 360 patients across 7 floors
• Therapy team includes 8-10 PTs and 6-8 PTAs daily
• Collaborative work with Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech Therapy (ST), and Case Management teams
• Patient populations include ortho, neuro, oncology, post-op back/neck, basic med/surg, ICU (medical, cardiac, surgical)

Location Requirement

• Candidate must live at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify

Required Documentation and Compliance

• I9 verification
• Driver’s License or State ID
• E-Verify compliance
• 7-year background check (updated annually) including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, and education verification
• Education verification (highest level)
• Various certifications as applicable (ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, etc.)
• State license verification (primary source online)
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests as applicable
• Color blindness test (online acceptable)
• Annual core testing and safety manual acknowledgements
• Clear headshot photo for badge
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption

Additional Notes

• Onsite drug screen during orientation (only one attempt allowed; failure results in cancellation)
• Fingerprinting required for New Mexico placements only (not applicable here)
• References and employment history verification required internally but not mandatory for clearance
• Annual renewal of certain competencies and health documents required
