Job Opportunity: Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Details

• Specialty: Behavioral Health RN
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On Call: None
• Start Date: February 10, 2025
• License Requirement: Must have a valid New York RN license in hand
• Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted
• Local Candidates: Must live more than 75 miles from the facility

Required Experience

• Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 1 year Behavioral Health RN experience (default to higher if conflicting info arises)

Certifications & Licenses

• Required:

  • New York RN License (primary source verification within 30 days of start)
  • ACLS (AHA Provider/Instructor/RQI acceptable)

  • Other certifications as required by unit (PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification)

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check (including felony checks) within 3 months of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, updated monthly
• Education verification from primary source (no hard copy degrees accepted)
• Foreign equivalency evaluation if education obtained internationally
• Employment verification of at least 2 past employments
• References: 2 references within 3 years (required for Aya candidates)

Health & Immunization Requirements

Candidates must complete all health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract:

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (updated annually)
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
• TB questionnaire annually (acceptable in lieu of annual TB test)
• Immunizations or positive titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive titer, completed series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season (documentation deadline December 3)
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Additional Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Clear, passport-style photo for badge
• Completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgment
• Competency exams as required by profession and specialty (medication test, color blind testing, etc.)
• State-specific documents for New York including:

  • NYS Nurse Aide Registry (if applicable)
  • NYS Criminal Background Check Fingerprint Results (for Behavioral Health units)
  • Disciplinary Action Search Results (for Behavioral Health units)
  • Sex Offender Registry Search within 30 days of start
  • NY Medicaid Exclusion List check within 3 months of start, updated monthly
