Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
Location: Tucson, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Orientation held twice a month.
- Auto offer with no return to origin (RTO) required.
- Coverage every other weekend.
- Floating required within scope of care/practice, including to a sister facility 25 minutes away.
- Patient ratio approximately 1:5-6.
- Full contract length commitment required.
- No first-time travelers accepted.
- EPIC electronic medical record system experience required.
- No local candidates accepted.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum 1+ year experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele) specialty.
- Prior travel experience required (No first-time travelers).
- Ability and willingness to float to sister facility.
- Experience with EPIC system.
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (AHA or Red Cross)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) for assigned units (MS/Tele included)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certificate
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (passing score 80%+)
- HIPAA Competency (updated annually, passing score 80%+)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., ENPC, PALS, NRP, EFM)
Health & Background Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by physician, NP, or PA.
- Fit testing for N95 mask within 1 year.
- Immunizations and/or titers required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (full vaccine within 10 years; declinations allowed except for certain units)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (proof of vaccination or positive titer; no declinations)
- Hepatitis B (proof of vaccination or positive titer; declinations allowed with signed form)
- Varicella (proof of vaccination or positive titer; no declinations)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 3 months of start.
- Drug testing (12 panel) within 30 days of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30) or approved medical/religious exemption with facility-specific form.
Documentation & History
- 2 professional references from employment within last 3 years (1 must be supervisory).
- Employment application with detailed work history for last 7 years; gaps over 30 days must be explained.
- Skills checklist updated annually.
- Background checks including 7-year history, OFAC, National Sex Offender, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG within 30 days of start.
Additional Notes
- Must be agreeable to floating to sister facility (lower acuity).
- No submission to multiple positions simultaneously.
- No local candidates accepted.
This position is ideal for experienced MS/Tele RNs with prior travel experience who are flexible and able to work in a dynamic hospital environment.
