Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, 5 days a week (5x8s)
  • Hours: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • No weekends required

Job Requirements

  • Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in Virginia
  • Minimum of 1 year of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience within the last year
  • PET/CT Certified or MIC CT Cross Trainer Certification (if MIC CT Cross Trainer certification is needed, it must be completed prior to start)
  • ARRT Certification or CNMT Certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

  • 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated every 30 days
  • Education verification through a 3rd party vendor (official transcripts required; photocopies not accepted)
  • Fingerprinting may be required depending on unit (facility will notify)
  • Abuse registry search required only for specific behavioral health units (not applicable here)

Health & Immunizations

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination (no declinations or exemptions allowed)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD required)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B: Positive Hep B Surface Antibody titer required or specific alternative titers as outlined
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or titer required (declination accepted but must be documented)
  • Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen including marijuana and fentanyl, within 2 months of start and updated annually
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required (no exemptions or declinations accepted)

Facility Specific Documents & Requirements

  • Professional appearance guidelines to be reviewed and acknowledged
  • Release authorization and TB screening forms to be completed prior to start
  • Fit testing required for patient-facing clinical roles (completed onsite if required)
  • Pass/Fail cardiac rhythm assessment not required for this role
  • Radiation badge: Candidates must supply their own radiation badge; not provided by agency

Additional Notes

  • Must comply with a 50-mile radius rule for travel to the facility
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
  • Skills checklist and competency exams may be required as applicable
  • No mention of ACLS, PALS, or other advanced certifications required for this role

This position is ideal for Nuclear Medicine Technologists who are PET/CT certified or willing to complete MIC CT Cross-trainer certification prior to starting. The role offers a standard weekday schedule with no weekend shifts. Compliance with extensive background, health, and immunization requirements is mandatory.
