Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Cardiac IMC Unit
Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Cardiac Intermediate Care (IMC)
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred
- Travel Experience: Unit does not accept first-time travelers (prior travel experience required)
- Certifications Required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Other certifications may be required as applicable (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum of 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP certification
- CHEMO certification
- TNCC certification
- MAB certification
- CPI certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- I-9 verification and E-Verify compliance
- 7-year background check (including SS trace, county searches, sex offender registry, education verification)
- Education verification (diploma or transcript acceptable if verification pending)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Annual unit-specific skills checklist and competency exams (medication/pharmacology, color blindness, core competencies)
- Photo for badge
Additional Notes
- Candidates residing in certain Texas counties are not eligible for this assignment.
- Orientation and fingerprinting requirements may apply depending on location.
- Compliance with facility-specific safety and training manuals is required.
This position is ideal for experienced cardiac IMC nurses with prior travel assignments who are comfortable working night shifts and managing a 1:4 patient ratio in a fast-paced environment.
