Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a travel/contract position in the Operating Room. The role involves working a 6-week rotating schedule with specific weekend and holiday shifts. The nurse may float to the GI unit or Center One Surgery Center as needed.

Schedule

• Shift times:

  • (2) 8-hour shifts: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • (2) 12-hour shifts: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• 6-week schedule includes:

  • (2) Weekend night shifts (8 or 12 hours depending on staffing)
  • Holiday call: 1 summer and 1 winter holiday (8 or 12 hours)
  • Work 1 summer and 1 winter holiday (8 or 12 hours)

Required Qualifications

• License: Pennsylvania or compact RN license required at time of submission
• Education: BSN required
• Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of nursing experience
  • At least 2-3 years of Level 1 Trauma experience
  • Experience with Level 1 Trauma, Liver, and Kidney cases required
• Certifications:

  • Trauma Certification (TNCC) required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Technical Skills:

  • Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
  • Scrub and circulate experience preferred
• Other:

  • No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required)

Additional Requirements

• Must complete background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and fingerprinting (PA-specific)
• Physical exam within 2 months of start
• Fit mask test (3M 1870+ model) within 12 months prior to start
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Current Tdap vaccine or titer
  • Negative TB test (Qgold or TSPOT within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption during flu season
• Drug screening (10 panel or 9 panel without THC) within 60 days prior to start
• Pass/fail dysrhythmia exam during orientation
• Completion of facility-specific education modules prior to orientation
• Professional references (2 within last 2 years)
• Work history verification as applicable

Notes

• Floating to other units may be required
• Holiday and weekend shifts are mandatory
• Must be able to pass all required competency exams and certifications
• Facility does not allow candidates to start with pending background or fingerprinting results

This position is ideal for an experienced OR RN with trauma experience who has completed prior travel contracts and is comfortable with rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
