Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location

Position Details
- Specialty: Respiratory Care (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Not required
- Locals: Not accepted
- Pending License: Accepted
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: 2 requests allowed

Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- NICU and/or PICU experience required
- Skills required in Emergency Department (ED), Level 1 Trauma, NICU, Pediatric Critical Care, and Pediatrics
Required Certifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - AHA only; PALS RQI accepted with standard 2-year expiration
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - AHA or AAP certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA only; check unit requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA only
Required Licenses
- Must hold a valid Respiratory Therapist license for Missouri (pending licenses accepted)
Required Competencies
- Pediatric Pharmacology Competency Exam (RNs only; not required for NICU)
- Unit-specific competency exams, including Pediatric competency exam if joint exam not available; must be updated annually
Experience Notes
- First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- Education verification of highest related degree required before start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required quarterly
- Fingerprinting required for Illinois long-term care or rehab assignments (not applicable here)
- Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) registration required (time sensitive)
- Missouri Highway Patrol Check required annually
- State-specific exclusion lists and sanction checks required
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test (N95) required and must be on file by end of first orientation week; facial hair must allow proper fit
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination (Td acceptable for renewals)
- Two negative TB tests (PPD) or equivalent (T-Spot or Q-Gold) within 1 year; history of positive TB requires additional documentation
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer, vaccination, or medical exemption required; no exemptions allowed for NICU or newborn nursery staff
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 30 - Apr 1)
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel; must remain valid throughout assignment
Facility-Specific Documents and Policies
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- HIPAA Acknowledgement, Latex Allergy Questionnaire, Confidentiality Form, Regulatory Compliance Education, Hepatitis B Declination (facility-specific declination via DocuSign)
- Hand Hygiene, Fingernail, and Dress Code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Orientation modules required for all RNs (except at this specific children's hospital)
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required at orientation for RNs
- Skills checklist required within 1 year of start, including oncology skills if applicable
References and History
- Two professional references required; supervisors within the last year preferred
- Employment application must be submitted and uploaded for facility review
- Performance evaluations may be requested but are not mandatory for extensions or per diem
