Job Opportunity: Pharmacist Inpatient
Location: Chesapeake, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide pharmacy services in an inpatient setting.
- Shift schedule: 5 days of 8-hour shifts, rotating weekdays and some weekends (every 3rd weekend).
- Overnight shifts (if assigned): 7 nights on, 7 nights off.
- Shift times vary by day, evening, and overnight hours.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Pharmacist license in Virginia.
- Pharmacist with a minimum of 1 year of inpatient pharmacy experience within the last year.
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Science or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
- Experience in an inpatient setting.
- IV experience.
- Pain controlled analgesia experience.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior travel experience preferred (not required).
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history.
- Government-issued photo ID.
- Various certifications and competencies as applicable.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually.
- Fit test for N95 mask within 1 year, updated annually (PAPR not allowed).
- Immunizations and titers required or documentation of immunity for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for certain units)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (titers within 10 years)
- Hepatitis B (titer or declination)
- Varicella (titer or declination)
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption (seasonal requirement)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months.
- Proof of 2 professional references.
- Completion of skills checklist and employment application.
- Fingerprinting required within the first week of contract start (state-specific process).
Additional Notes
- Facility has a zero-tolerance policy for background check issues.
- Candidates must carry photo ID during hours of service.
- Some certifications such as ACLS, BLS, and others may be required depending on unit assignment.
- Mask wearing required if flu or COVID exemptions are granted.
- Documentation and compliance with all facility-specific policies and procedures are mandatory.
