Registered Nurse - Mixed Unit High Acuity

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of experience for a high acuity mixed unit. This role requires floating within the scope of practice and working every other weekend. The nurse will be part of a rapid response team and must have experience with total joint patients.

Key Requirements

• Valid RN license in Florida
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• Experience with 1:6 patient ratio
• Rapid Response team experience
• Total joints experience

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RNs except PACU, OR, Women’s Center, or Case Management)

Additional Requirements

• No block scheduling allowed
• No RTO (Return to Office) during the first or last week of assignment
• Must be available to work mandatory shifts during orientation
• 3 call outs result in termination
• Shift change refusals with less than 48 hours’ notice may result in forfeiting guaranteed hours or termination
• Must complete required eLearning modules prior to start (approximately 4 hours)
• Must work holiday shifts as assigned depending on number of holidays during assignment

Facility & Work Environment

• Acute Care Hospital setting
• 210 staffed beds
• Charting system: Meditech
• Free parking in unrestricted spaces

Compliance & Documentation

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Background check within 6 months including social security trace, nationwide checks, education verification, and more
• Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start
• Education verification required (ASN, BSN, or MSN)
• Drug screening (9 panel) within 3 months of start
• Physical exam within 6 months of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
• COVID vaccination documentation required or approved exemption forms
• Flu vaccine documentation encouraged but not required for contract workers
• Two professional references within 2 years required
• Performance evaluation within last year required if applicable
• Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgements must be reviewed and signed

Orientation & Training

• Must complete facility-specific job description and orientation quizzes
• Must complete NetLearning and Elsevier modules prior to start
• Fit mask testing completed onsite during first week

Notes

• Color blind testing and medication/pharmacology competency exams required
• Must adhere to facility policies including vaccination declination and waiver forms if applicable
• Must review and sign confidentiality, tobacco-free, timecard expectation, and other facility-specific acknowledgements

This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with high acuity patients, floating, and working in a fast-paced acute care environment.
