Work Schedule
- 36 hours per week, consisting of three 12-hour shifts
- Shifts rotate every other weekend
- 50/50 rotation between day (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) and night (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) shifts, with attempts to limit day/night rotation within the same week unless requested
Specialty
- Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics with focus on Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) or Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
Required Experience
- 2 to 3 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- At least 1 year of experience in PICU or Pediatric CVICU
- No prior travel experience required
Required Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required (Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) not accepted)
- Massachusetts state license pending is acceptable
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) recommended based on pediatric setting (implied by specialty)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required for extended assignments (13+ weeks) in certain pediatric intensive care units
Additional Requirements and Compliance
- Proof of name change documentation if applicable
- Massachusetts CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) release form required within 60 days of start date
- Comprehensive background check including 10-year criminal history, SSN trace, and federal/state sanctions; must be initiated within 24 hours of booking
- Respiratory Safety clearance required for all travelers, including completion of a virtual questionnaire reviewed by a licensed healthcare professional; facility-specific fit testing completed onsite
- Verification of professional certification (e.g., NBRC for Respiratory Therapists) within 30 days prior to start
- Employment application with 10-year work history; explanations required for gaps over 30 days
- Two professional references from two separate employers within the last three places of employment
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within one year of start date, signed by MD, DO, PA, NP, or registered medical examiner; must state cleared to work with no restrictions
- Immunizations and/or titers required prior to start:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR): proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
- Varicella: proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
- Hepatitis B: series completion or declination with signed documentation
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: valid vaccination record (Tdap preferred)
- Negative Tuberculosis (TB) test or chest X-ray within required timeframe; TB questionnaire if applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season (August 1 - March 31); documentation must be submitted by November 14
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption required; seasonal COVID vaccine preferred but not mandatory
- 9-panel drug screen within the last 12 months (instant acceptable); not required for Advanced Practice Nurses (APN)
Onboarding and Documentation
- Completion of onboarding packet approximately two weeks prior to start
- Submission of facility-specific forms including data collection, background check consent, and flu exemption forms as applicable
- Candidates must complete required Smartsheet attestations for flu and COVID vaccinations if vaccinated outside the facility
- Timely submission of all required documentation is critical to avoid delays or removal from assignment
