Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with 3-5 years of nursing experience, including pediatric case management and discharge planning for medically complex pediatric patients.
Work Schedule
- Day shift, 5 days per week (8 hours per day)
- Typical hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Occasional weekends may be requested
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Minimum of 3 years of Case Management experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Experience with discharge planning for medically complex pediatric patients
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Certifications (as applicable to assignment/unit)
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Required for all clinical positions
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required if assignment extends beyond 13 weeks in certain pediatric cardiovascular intensive care units
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for specific pediatric intensive care, emergency, and cardiac units
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Preferred for NICU; NICU requires PALS or NRP
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., chemotherapy certification for oncology)
Required Competencies
- Pediatric medication/pharmacology competency exam
- Unit-specific competency exam
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 10-year criminal background check within 6 months prior to start, including aliases and multiple federal/state databases
- Massachusetts statewide iCORI clearance within 6 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Annual background check updates required for direct candidates
- Employment application with 10-year work history; gaps over 30 days require explanation
- Two professional references from two separate employers within the last 3 places of employment
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, cleared to work with no restrictions
- Immunizations and/or titers required prior to start:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
- Varicella – proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
- Hepatitis B – series and/or declination documentation
- Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) – must be current; declinations not accepted
- Negative TB test (blood or 2-step skin test) within required timeframe
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required annually (flu season: 8/1 – 3/31)
- COVID-19 initial vaccine series or approved exemption required; seasonal COVID vaccine preferred but not mandatory
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (not required for advanced practice nurses)
- RespSafety clearance required for all travelers
Documentation and Onboarding
- Proof of name change if applicable (for any documents under different names)
- State license verification through official state website within 30 days of start
- Professional certification verification within 30 days of start
- Completion of facility-specific onboarding packet prior to start
- Completion of required background check consent forms and health requirement forms within specified timeframes
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete a data collection form within 72 hours of booking
- Candidates must submit required vaccine exemption forms separately for flu and COVID if applicable
- Facility requires strict adherence to background check and immunization policies
- Unit-specific skills checklist required within one year prior to start
