Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse

Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER)
  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Patient Ratios: Based on acuity
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: Not applicable
  • Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility and department needs

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Certifications issued by the American Heart Association:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) or BLS issued by American Red Cross
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Important Notes

  • Hurricane Season: June through November; employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams during this time. Avoid confirming new or extension assignments during peak months (August and September) if this is a concern.

    • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
    • Includes SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC sanctions list, and state-specific searches
  • Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification is pending
  • Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; must be active, unencumbered, and no pending actions
  • NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; no instant tests accepted
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
    • Immunizations and titers required or proof of vaccination/declination for: Tdap, Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
    • Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); flu declinations not accepted
    • COVID vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
  • Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology competency exam and general competency exam required
  • Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
  • Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background, frontal view, business casual attire, no hats or sunglasses; must be submitted by Wednesday before start week
  • Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to orientation; estimated 4-6 hours for this location
  • Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for respirator use; fit testing done onsite during orientation

  • Special physical assessment form required, signed by licensed provider within 1 year
  • CMP and CBC labs required due to chemical exposure risks
