Registered Nurse - Acute Care Unit (Nights)

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Work in a 26-bed acute care unit with a diverse patient population.
• Patient mix: 90% post-surgical (General Surgery and Trauma), 10% medical diagnoses.
• All rooms equipped for cardiac monitoring, capnography/end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and continuous pulse oximetry.
• Night shift schedule, 36 or 48 hours per week.
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required.
• Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed.
• Up to 40 hours can be approved for time off.
• Must adhere to the facility’s float policy.
• Epic electronic health record experience required.
• Can submit application with Virginia nursing license pending.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia.
• Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience within the last year.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Preferred

Compliance & Background Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, updated annually.
• Education verification: ASN required; BSN preferred. Official transcripts acceptable.
• Drug screening: 10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl, within 2 months of start and updated annually.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap (no exemptions allowed)
  • 2-step TB test or equivalent (Qgold acceptable, Tspot not accepted)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer required
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or titer required)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (no exemptions)
• Physical exam within 12 months of start attesting ability to meet job demands.
• Pass/fail cardiac rhythm assessment during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions.

• Fingerprinting may be required depending on unit assignment.
• Some units require additional background checks such as child abuse registry searches.
• Professional appearance guidelines must be reviewed and acknowledged.
• Fit testing required for patient-facing clinical roles, completed onsite if needed.
