Registered Nurse - Acute Care Unit (Nights)
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Work in a 26-bed acute care unit with a diverse patient population.
- Patient mix: 90% post-surgical (General Surgery and Trauma), 10% medical diagnoses.
- All rooms equipped for cardiac monitoring, capnography/end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and continuous pulse oximetry.
- Night shift schedule, 36 or 48 hours per week.
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required.
- Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed.
- Up to 40 hours can be approved for time off.
- Must adhere to the facility’s float policy.
- Epic electronic health record experience required.
- Can submit application with Virginia nursing license pending.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia.
- Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience within the last year.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

- BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Preferred

Compliance & Background Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, updated annually.

- Drug screening: 10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl, within 2 months of start and updated annually.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap (no exemptions allowed)
- 2-step TB test or equivalent (Qgold acceptable, Tspot not accepted)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer required
- Varicella (2 vaccines or titer required)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (no exemptions)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start attesting ability to meet job demands.
- Pass/fail cardiac rhythm assessment during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions.
Additional Notes
- Fingerprinting may be required depending on unit assignment.
- Some units require additional background checks such as child abuse registry searches.
- Professional appearance guidelines must be reviewed and acknowledged.
- Fit testing required for patient-facing clinical roles, completed onsite if needed.
