Job Opportunity: IMC Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for an Intermediate Care (IMC) unit specializing in neurological and medical intermediate patients. This is a travel/contract position with night shifts (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 18:45 - 07:15).
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Ability to titrate LEVO (Levophed)
- Telemetry experience
- Experience with Epic Electronic Health Record system
Work Environment & Schedule
- Patient Ratio: 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio.
- Unit Census: Maximum 24 patients.
- Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15).
- Shift Options: 36 or 48 hours per week available.
- Weekend Requirement: Minimum 3 weekend shifts every 6 weeks.
- Float Requirement: May float to other intermediate areas including critical care (ICU/Stepdown).
- Call Requirement: None.
Orientation & Training
- Orientation: 32 hours total (8-hour computer class plus two unit shifts after hospital orientation).
- Testing: Must pass EKG competency testing prior to start.
- Behavioral Expectations: Must demonstrate teamwork and adhere strictly to call-off policies.
Patient Population
- Intermediate care patients with a neurological sub-specialty focus alongside medical intermediate patients.
Required Compliance & Documentation
- Background check within 6 months.
- Drug screening within 6 months (9-panel acceptable).
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or documentation of past positive).
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B per facility requirements.
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption with mask requirement.
- Physical exam (per travel agency standards).
- References and performance evaluations as applicable.
- Completion of required facility-specific education and compliance training modules.
- Photo for badge (passport style, white background, business attire).
- Completion of confidentiality and hospital policy acknowledgments.
- Proof of logging into facility learning system (I-Learn) within 24 hours of account setup.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional certifications: CCRN, TNCC, CPI.
- Skills in port access/management, phlebotomy, triage, ICP monitoring, conscious sedation, charge nurse experience.
Additional Notes
- RTO (Return to Office) after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation.
- Must meet behavioral expectations in all interactions with patients and staff.
- Strong adherence to call-off policy is mandatory.
