Medical Surgical Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job – Augusta, Georgia

Position Overview

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical / Remote Telemetry)
• Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Average Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
• Unit Size: 33 beds, average daily census of 28
• Electronic Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue
• Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Call Requirements: Every other weekend, holidays as needed, relief charge
• Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
• Holidays: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)

Contract Details

• Type: Travel/Contract
• Length: 14 weeks
• Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days notice
• RTO Blackout Date: September 7, 2026
• Locals Accepted: Yes, at the same rate

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Medical Surgical and Telemetry nursing
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
• Experience working with Epic electronic health record system

Clinical Skills & Work Setting

• Experience with medical surgical and remote telemetry patients
• Familiarity with diagnoses including diabetes, post-op care, wound vacs, bariatrics
• Comfortable working with Epic electronic health record system

Compliance & Onboarding

• Full compliance with all requirements needed to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
• Background check required within 30 days prior to start; must be complete before starting
• Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
• Physical exam within 12 months required by agency (not client)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; results must be available before start
• Annual NURSYS license verification within 30 days prior to start
• Required health documents include:

  • TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Flu vaccine or signed declination required for flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31)
• Candidate must review and sign facility Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start

Additional Requirements

• Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
• Verification of most recent work history required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
• Two clinical references required by agency (not client)
• Floating within facility as needed
• Expected to work holidays as outlined in holiday policy

Notes

• Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
• Candidates must pass clinical screening within RTO guidelines and meet facility-specific requirements to receive offer confirmation
• Candidates who do not pass color-blind testing may be subject to alternative assessments related to blood collection tasks

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience in medical surgical and telemetry care, comfortable with adult to geriatric patient populations, and able to work a day shift schedule with weekend and holiday coverage.
