Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Fredericksburg, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Patient Ratio: 1:2
Average Daily Deliveries: 5
Start Date: ASAP


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in Labor & Delivery
  • Circulate and perform fetal heart monitoring (FHM) required
  • Scrub and OB assist preferred
  • Float within scope to Mother-Baby Unit (MBU) or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as needed
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend
  • No on-call required
  • Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
  • Locals accepted
  • Use of special equipment including Triton for Quantitative Blood Loss (QBL), Surgicount, Monica Novii
  • Charting system: Epic (Epic Stork experience required)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Virginia
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (American Heart Association provider card required)
    • BLS (American Heart Association provider card required)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • AWHONN Intermediate or Relias Fetal Heart Rate certification
  • Proficient in Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

  • First-time travelers accepted
  • No excessive time off requests allowed
  • Must sign facility-specific documents including Code of Conduct, Confidentiality and Security Agreement, Epic Experience Screening Form, Orientation Packet & Acknowledgement Form, and Job Description form prior to start
  • Completion of mandatory WorkRamp modules within one week of signing required prior to start
  • Employment application and work history verification (minimum 2 years) required
  • Skills checklist required for clinical candidates
  • Facility type: Short-Term Acute Care, Level II Trauma Center
