Registered Nurse – CVICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Work option: 36 or 48-hour shifts available
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Unit: Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU), a 20-bed specialty ICU for high acuity cardiovascular patients including stable heart/lung transplants, ventricular assist devices, and ECMO patients
- Patient ratios: 1:2-3 (days and nights)
- Floating required frequently within scope to various units including Bellevue campus; units may include Neuro, Trauma, Observation, and others
- Drip management required on all floors
- EPIC electronic charting experience required
- Facility is 100% nicotine-free
- Weekend shifts: 4 out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (days: Sat/Sun; nights: Fri/Sat night)
- Holiday work: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse license valid in Nebraska (pending license accepted but must be in hand before start; otherwise booking delayed 6 weeks)
- Minimum 2 years RN experience in a large, urban hospital setting
- First-time travelers not accepted unless they have 2 years experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
- Must be willing and able to float frequently within scope
- Must be more than 100 miles from the facility (no local candidates accepted)
Certifications & Compliance
- Background check within 30 days of start, including multiple county/state/federal checks
- Drug screening within 60 days of start, updated annually
- Physical exam and fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tdap within last 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray with TB questionnaire if history positive
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers (boosters if low/equivocal)
- Hepatitis B titer or declination
- 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer (boosters if low/equivocal)
- Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
- COVID vaccine preferred (medical/religious exemption or declination accepted)
- Annual skills checklist required
- Education verification and primary source license verification required prior to start
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
Additional Information
- Scrubs: Mandatory Steele gray scrubs with facility logo (provided after confirmation)
- Parking: Permit available (~$55/month) or daily parking rates apply
- RTO (Request Time Off): Up to 2 weeks allowed; must be submitted with application; additional requests at manager discretion
- Government-issued photo ID required
- References: 2 work references from past 2 years required (1 must be from most recent employer if not a current traveler)

- RTO blackout dates: June 11–22, 2026 (due to College World Series)
- Care teams include CNAs, care techs, transport team, paramedics; LPNs assigned on some floors
- This is a high-acuity, fast-paced ICU environment requiring strong critical care skills and flexibility to float
- Locals not accepted; candidate must be at least 100 miles away from the facility
