Job Opportunity: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Surgical Services (Operating Room)
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (10:30 AM – 11:00 PM)
• Weekend Requirement: Rotating weekends
• On-call Requirement: Up to 2 call shifts per month (7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM on Saturday or Sunday)
• Floating: May be required to float within scope to like units or sister facilities
• Trauma Level: Level 1 trauma center

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist with 2 years of experience
• Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
• Current NBSTSA certification required
• BLS certification required

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Neuro (spine/craniotomy), ENT (flaps), and Robotics (Da Vinci Xi) cases highly preferred
• Familiarity with common cases including Orthopedics (total joints, spine, trauma), Neuro, ENT, Robotics, Transplants/Procurements, Trauma/Burns, GU/GYN

Facility & Work Environment

• Level I Trauma Center, Teaching Facility, Magnet designated hospital
• Main OR has 21 suites covering all surgical specialties including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
• Busy, dynamic, nurse-driven environment with cutting-edge technology
• Charting system: EPIC
• Scrub color provided
• Parking permit required with a $20 registration fee for garage use (additional fees may apply for other parking locations)
• Local radius for travel assignments: 60 miles
• Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis

Additional Information

• Block scheduling may be accommodated with manager approval based on unit needs
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; called off hours can be combined to equal 1 shift
• Hurricane season (June–November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; peak months August and September
• First-time travelers accepted

Required Documentation Prior to Start

• Copy of Driver’s License or State ID
• Copy of Social Security Card or SSN verification
• Completed employment application including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
• Passport-style photo for badge (frontal view, solid light background, business casual attire)
• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
• Physical exam updated annually attesting ability to meet physical demands
• For Sterile Processing Techs only: additional physical assessment and lab panels required (not applicable for this CST role)

Notes

• Candidates cannot start without their radiation badge; processing may take 5-7 days
• All licensure and certification hits must be approved by the facility prior to start
• Candidates must renew certifications expiring within 30 days of start or have scheduled renewal courses
• COVID-19 vaccination is highly preferred but not required; declination form must be completed if not vaccinated
• Flu vaccine documentation deadline is December 5th during flu season; failure to comply may result in leave without pay
