Oncology RN Travel Contract

Location

  • New Orleans, Louisiana

Schedule

  • Day shift
  • 3x12 hours
  • 36 hours per week

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Key Job Details

  • First-time travelers welcome
  • 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Float required
  • Every other weekend coverage
  • Emergency event assignment may be required, including staying at the facility or serving on a relief team

Patient Population

  • Hematology
  • Medical oncology
  • Bone marrow transplant
  • Gynecologic and surgical oncology

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Louisiana
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Oncology experience within the last year
  • 1 year of oncology experience
  • Hematology experience
  • Bone Marrow Transplant experience
  • Surgical Oncology experience
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • Experience with Epic
  • Competency exam
  • Skills checklist
  • Resume/application
  • Current valid government photo ID
  • Background check
  • Drug screen
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
  • Physical exam
  • Fit testing
  • Flu vaccination, declination, or approved exemption during flu season
  • Immunity or documentation for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella
  • Tdap
  • CLEAR enrollment for identity verification

Preferred Qualifications

  • ONS certification

Additional Notes

  • Unit includes a 7-bed positive pressure wing for bone marrow transplant and acute leukemia patients
  • Bedside central line placements and bone marrow biopsies are performed on the unit
  • Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, barcode medication administration, SCD machines, and Alaris feeding pumps
