Cardiac Tele

Overview

• Travel/contract Registered Nurse role in Salisbury, North Carolina.
• 13-week assignment.
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 18:45–07:15.
• 36 hours per week.
• Locals are accepted.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• 2 years of telemetry experience
• Telemetry experience within the last year
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
• Traveler experience is accepted, including first-time travelers.

Preferred

• None stated.

Unit Details

• Primary cardiac and stroke unit.
• Target ratio is 1:5–6; travelers must be comfortable taking 6 patients.
• Fast-paced unit with frequent turnover.
• Float requirement: yes.
• Call requirement: yes, frequency depends on patient census.
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend, plus 2 Mondays and 2 Fridays in a 6-week period.
• No block scheduling.
• Self-scheduling with leadership oversight.

Clinical Skills and Patient Care

• IV start
• Telemetry
• Pre- and post-procedure cardiac patients
• Cardiac drips
• PCI
• Stable pre/post care for pacemaker implantation, implanted cardioverter/defibrillators, and cardiac catheterization
• TR bands
• Post uncomplicated interventional peripheral vascular procedures/cardiac interventions without sheaths
• Stable oxygen support monitoring, including telemetry and pulse ox
• Can titrate cardizem drips
• Multiple drips may be used, including Cardiazem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone

Patient Population / Unit Focus

• Unstable angina
• Low-risk chest pain evaluation
• CHF
• Dysrhythmias
• New CVA and TIA patients
• COVID-positive patients during surges
• Opti-flow and acute BiPAP patients during COVID surge
• High side of the CTU is a COVID unit with 23 beds

Schedule and Orientation

• 36-hour unit orientation.
• Must be available every day during week one for hospital orientation.

Additional Notes

• RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite.
• Navy blue scrubs, white scrubs, or a mixture of the two are allowed; Novant t-shirts are also allowed.
• No crocs with holes.
